Happy Sunday friends! Our words matter. They are powerful, and in a matter of seconds, they can build someone up, or tear someone down. It is our choice, the words we choose to speak to people, the tone we use. It is not our choice the way a person whom we are speaking to chooses to interpret what we say. (That will definitely be another blog post soon.) The wounds caused by harsh words cannot be erased, and often never forgotten.
The Golden Rule, treat others the way you would like to be treated is a phrase many of us have heard at least once in our life. It is putting ourselves in another person’s shoes. When you or I make a mistake, how do we want to be treated? Although the phrase, The Golden Rule is not found in the Bible, many people refer to it when Jesus gave His sermon on the Mount. “Here is a simple, rule-or-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.” Mathew 7:12 (MSG)
